Milestone Buttress - Sunday 25th March

Clocks to summertime and it was almost too hot on the hill last Sunday, slept for half an hour on the summit of Y Garn and got sunburn. Whilst Damian and Deej got to grips with  Milestone Buttress.

Sunday 18th March - Prospect from Crimpiau

'Prospect from Crimpiau', sounds a bit like the title of an Ealing comedy, however i was recently reminded what a stunning backdrop this little ridge reveals.
For a short amble park at Bryn Glo, go up to the col, onto Crimpiau and back down the ridge. I'll come again when the ground is frozen or less boggy.

Tryfan via Heather Terrace and another rescue - Sunday 11th March

First Pinnacle Rib

Heading home

Another day on the hills, Tryfan via Heather Terrace. Not without incident. On the way up the terrace, a few people were taking advantage of  good weather on the usual multi pitch routes GA & FPR. There had been  considerable amount of chopper presence, i assumed it was a practise however on reaching the col it was obvious that the effort was concentrated on Glyder Fach. Looked like Dolmen ridge area but i couldn't be sure. During the pick up the cloud was shifting in and out every minute hampering visability. Getting home i noticed the tweet from The Grough. http://www.grough.co.uk/magazine/2012/03/11/man-suffers-head-injuries-in-fall-from-snowdonia-scramble

Hope all ended well.

Wed 29th Feb - The Kitchen Garden Cafe - This is the Kit & Rozi Plain

After seeing some stunning bands at last years festivals it takes us at least another 6 months to clear up all the tick marks and follow ups left scribbled in the margins of our gig notes. One band that certainly got our aattention at the 'End of the Road Festival' was 'This is the Kit'.
Another superbly intimate gig at the Kitchen Garden Cafe in Kings Heath from TITK's Kate Stables with an added helping of the brilliant Rozi Plain.
Think they are touring round the UK for bit at the mo then onto Bestival later in the year. Also picked up the album 'Wriggle out the Restless' nice to have a remix extra CD tucked inside as well.

‘The Beginner’s Guide for Climbers’ by Sophie Mitchell NICAS/ROCKFAX

Just received a copy of the ‘The Beginner’s Guide for Climbers’ by Sophie Mitchell from NICAS.
Spot on for our 9 year old new starters at the Crystal climbing wall, really simple, clear text, and well illustrated. How many folks know what a ‘Gaston’ move looks like.

Plus on the inside back page you get a free bit of rope (string), and some slots in the card to practice your Fig 8.
